Ballinrobe Racecourse host the biggest day of our year on Tuesday 25th May 2021 thanks to the backing of locally-based McHale, a name known the world over. McHale now enter their 8th year of sponsoring this feature raceday in Ballinrobe.

McHale Race Day will feature the €40,000 McHale Mayo National Handicap Chase, the first graded race to be run at our venue in 2020. The McHale Mayo Hurdle has an over all value of €30,000 and will be the main supporting race with the McHale Tiger Roll Beginners Chase included in a fine day’s racing, the race renamed to honour of the dual Aintree Grand National hero and four-time Cheltenham Festival winner which recorded his first win over fences at Ballinrobe in May, 2016.

In 2020, the Henry deBromhead trained Tune the Chello won the McHale Mayo Irish EBF (M) H´cap H´dle, ridden by Robbie Power. Doctor Duffy won the big one, the Mchale Mayo National as Kevin Brouder piloted Charles Byrnes’ seven-year-old to a confident three-and-a-quarter-length triumph.
