The McHale Mayo Hurdle has an overall value of €30,000 and will be the main supporting race with the McHale Tiger Roll Beginners Chase included in a fine day’s racing, the race renamed to honour of the dual Aintree Grand National hero and four-time Cheltenham Festival winner which recorded his first win over fences at Ballinrobe in May, 2016.
In 2020, the Henry deBromhead trained Tune the Chello won the McHale Mayo Irish EBF (M) H´cap H´dle, ridden by Robbie Power. Doctor Duffy won the big one, the Mchale Mayo National as Kevin Brouder piloted Charles Byrnes’ seven-year-old to a confident three-and-a-quarter-length triumph.
