Ballinrobe-based company McHale are proud sponsors of the McHale Mayo National and the McHale Coranna Handicap Hurdle, Ballinrobe Racecourse’s most valuable races. It marks one of the racing highlights in Ballinrobe Racecourse’s calendar. Known as McHale day, the raceday forms the second part of a two-day national hunt meeting at the end of May. It will take place on Tuesday 29th May this year.
In 2016, the John Patrick Ryan trained Kilcarry Bridge won the McHale Mayo National under jockey Donagh Meyler.
. The McHale Coranna H’Cap Hurdle was won by Swamp Fox, trained by Joseph G Murphy and ridden by B Browne.
Established over 30 years ago, McHale will sponsor seven races on the day. The family-run business produces a range of specialist farm machinery focusing on balers and bale wrappers and is a major employer in the Ballinrobe area. Manufacturing takes place at a purpose-built factory in Ballinrobe.
