Ballinrobe Racecourse Announces 2025 Fixtures

Ballinrobe Racecourse is thrilled to announce its 2025 fixtures, confirmed by Horse Racing Ireland (HRI). In 2025, Ballinrobe will host 10 race meetings, including the exciting addition of a new Friday flat fixture on 9th May, bringing the total number of Friday meetings to three. The season will begin on Friday, 11th April, and conclude on Friday, 12th September, featuring three flat and seven National Hunt race meetings.

John Flannelly, Ballinrobe Racecourse Manager, expressed his delight at adding the new Friday fixture, stating: “We are thrilled to introduce another Friday meeting to our 2025 calendar. Fridays have always been very popular here at Ballinrobe, so this new fixture is a fantastic addition. Reflecting on 2024, it was a great season overall, even with some wet days, but that’s part and parcel of racing and the weather in the West of Ireland. The support from racegoers remained strong, particularly at our final meeting. We’re excited for 2025 and well into the planning stages already”.

The fixture list for 2025, will see the overall number of fixtures remain at 395 across the 26 racetracks. All but four of the fixtures have been allocated, with the remainder retained as floating fixtures to be utilised during the year to deal with time periods when there is very high demand for opportunities to run from the horse population.

HRI’s Director of Racing, Jonathan Mullin, commented: “The number of horses in training in Ireland this year remains at similar levels to 2023, and therefore it was felt prudent not to increase the number of fixtures for 2025. The fixture list process for 2025 involved consultation with a wide variety of industry stakeholders, and we acknowledge their strong engagement throughout. In particular, given the need to produce a ‘shadow’ 2025 fixture list to accommodate the planned development of an All-Weather Track at Tipperary, we thank the racecourses for their considerable contributions.”
