Ballinrobe Racecourse is excited to announce the return of racing for the highly anticipated 2025 season, commencing on Friday, 11th April. With ten fixtures lined up, this season brings an exciting addition to the calendar—a brand-new Friday evening meeting on Friday 9th May—bringing the total to three Friday evening meetings, which have already garnered fantastic interest.

In great news for racegoers, general admission prices remain the same again this year, having not changed in over 20 years, ensuring affordability for all racegoers. John Flannelly, Racecourse Manager, commented: “We strongly believe that racing should remain accessible to all. The heart and soul of Ballinrobe Racecourse are the people who come through our gates, creating the electric atmosphere we are known for. We take great pride in providing an unforgettable evening of entertainment, and we are delighted to maintain our admission prices once again this year.”

Preparations are well underway at the South Mayo track to ensure another spectacular season of racing and entertainment. The highlight of the racing calendar remains the McHale Raceday on Monday, 26th May, featuring the prestigious McHale Mayo National, boasting an impressive prize fund of €100,000.

Cathal Flannelly, track manager, commented ‘”Having a listed race like the McHale Mayo National brings a great sense of pride, but no matter the race being run at Ballinrobe, meticulous planning goes into the track, the surface, and the racing lines. Our priority is always to provide the best and safest ground for both horse and jockey. We do not just turn up on the day—planning for this season began last September to ensure the ground is in peak condition for racing on Friday, April 11th.”

The Lodge at Ashford Castle has reaffirmed its commitment to Ballinrobe by once again sponsoring Ladies Day on Monday, 23rd June. The ever-popular Family Day will make its return in July, alongside the hugely popular Race Dance, held in association with Ballinrobe Festival, promising two evenings of fantastic summer fun.

All races this season are once again fully sponsored, with a few new sponsors coming on board and a waiting list of businesses looking to support racing at Ballinrobe. This remarkable achievement is a testament to the strong relationships built with local businesses and the wider community.

John Flannelly racecourse manager commented ‘Ballinrobe is proud of its association with so many sponsors. We are very fortunate to welcome back our loyal sponsors who have remained with us for many years. I would also like to welcome our new sponsors and hope they enjoy their race day with us at Ballinrobe.
